It depends on the version of MacOS you’ve got on your computer. Logic 11 requires Ventura or above. Update that first then update your Logic Pro.

@@theforeverlasting6786 Logic Pro for Mac 11 requires macOS Ventura 13.5 or later. Go to the Apple Icon in top left of your screen. Choose About this Mac. One the next page you will see a button called Software Update. Click that to see if you computer can be updated beyond the curent OS. Hopefully it can be.

This is an excellent question. And absolutely yes you can create multi layered samples at different velocities automatically with this unit. 👍🏾

@@MTTC How can we configure for each Note different Velocity, not just for whole Layer? I have not founded for each Note. I try to sample one DK on which each note(Layer) have another Velocity so I need for 128 Notes individually Velocity Layers and independent for each key.Thanks.

It’s great to hear from creatives who have sampled a range of different approaches in production and also earn a living from the tools they use. I suppose it’s also a valid consideration for those who are enthusiasts and might not be in a position to afford the extras as mentioned. I have always advocated for creatives to learn to play at least one musical instrument as this knowledge is invaluable when producing music. That said I’m also of the mindset that I should embrace and explore new technological advances as they often point us in the direction of travel for the industry. Thanks for your great input 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

@@MTTC Thank you. I’d like to mention to your viewers that native instruments is having a sale now until July 8th. For $300 one could get 15 synths, 36 sampled instruments, 9 drum and percussion instruments, and 19 fx. This bundle comes with several of those expansions I mentioned. A lighter version is $100, and a more jam-packed version is $600. If budget permits, their ultimate bundle is $900 which has tons of stuff including 103 expansions. These prices are half off. They also have bundles that include a Komplete Kontrol keyboard. One does not even need to buy a maschine controller to use the expansions. I just use them inside battery 4 which comes in all Komplete versions. The expansions are normally $50, but they have sales that include half off, and 9 expansions for $99. There are so many to choose from that cover many genres of music. Please do go to their site to hear some of these amazing sounds. 🎹♥️

@@MTTC May I add, in case anyone is thinking, “Does this guy really know what he’s talking about, or does he work for native instruments or something”? I’ve used these tools for many years with great success. Right now I’m working on my group’s 27th album. 1st release was in 1981, (I was 16 years old). The group is coming up on our 50th anniversary. I’ve written for and produced many other artists and have played on countless songs. As y’all may have guessed, my recording history goes back to 2-inch tape. Started working heavily with computer recording around 2000. I really love to share all the knowledge I’ve gained over the decades, with the hope of helping others get a little further a little easier. I spend a lot of time researching alternatives to the things I like and use, and try not to get too ‘married’ to 1 thing. I agree with the advantages of learning an instrument to help with production, but if that’s not possible, use whatever tools fit your style and needs. I especially encourage upcomers to disregard all comments that state, using this or that means someone is not a real producer or musician. Creativity begins in one’s spirit, so to me, whatever one uses to help express themselves is just fine. There’s nobody doing things in this purist form that some try to project. Show me someone who claims they only use patches/sounds that they create themselves to make music, and I’ll show you a liar. Everyone uses something made by someone else eventually. Do you mean using a MIDI bass guitar to trigger the sounds? If so the yes definitely. If you meant playing a live electric bass and also having the session bass playing yes you can but you would need to work out different parts for each instrument to process their tones differently so create separation 👍🏾

So you can’t plug in your bass to your interface and use the rickenbacker or jazz bass virtual sounds?

Absolutely you still can Chris. There are a number of ways in which you can isolate the percussion parts to create independent tracks for each percussion instrument. Dive back in and explore. You’ll see 💯

My brother JT. It sucks that you can’t make use of the new features in Logic 11 due to the MacOS requirements 😕 There are some really nice features now included that make a great difference in certain aspects. However not all of my machines meet the minimum specs but I’m still banging out music on them and I’m sure you’ll be doing the same. So until such time as you upgrade you’ll still be making bangers irrespective. One love my bro 🙏🏾

You’re not wrong Daniel. It’s pretty good on monophonic instruments without too much complexity. I’ll be exploring the results I get from Logic 11 to see if things have improved
